The all-electric ID.5 from Volkswagen is built on the modular electric drive matrix, or MEB, developed by Volkswagen to be the basis of many of the group's electric vehicles, the ID.5 is the first crossover SUV in the all-electric range.

The ID.5 will be capable of charging up to 135 kW (DC) - equating to 62 miles - in only 7 minutes. Over-the-air updates and natural voice control make the ID.5 a high-tech, futuristic vehicle. It has a panoramic sunroof as standard allowing an airy and light feel to driver and passengers.
An optional trailer bracket swivels out electrically by button control and can tow loads of up to 750kg (unbraked) or up to 1,200kg (braked, with 8% gradient). Amazingly versatile.
Inside you have an ambient lighting option and an augmented reality head-up display. This means you can have your navigation information displayed directly onto the windscreen in front of you, without having to take your eyes off the road. You can also co-ordinate it with the voice assistant to communicate with the navigation system. Music streaming is fully integrated too.

This comes about by reduction or avoidance of CO2 use in production. For example, the use of green electricity both in battery cell manufacturing and in production. Unavoidable CO2 emissions from production to delivery to the customer, which are determined with the help of the specific eco-balance, are offset by certified climate protection projects. It's all part of the Way to Zero initiative from Volkswagen.
