The ID. Buzz Cargo takes inspiration from the iconic Transporter van and takes it to a new level of electric mobility and high level technology. With intelligent storage, integrated driver's workstation, augmented reality (AR) head-up display and self-drive mode, this will be a revolution in electric commercial vehicles.
Ready for tough jobs, the payload is 800kg, the length is 5,048mm and width 1,976mm. The concept vehicle is 1,963mm high and has a wheelbase of 3,300mm. The Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) integrates the battery into the vehicle floor, allowing for a lower centre of gravity for superior handling. The turning circle is less than 10 metres which is small enough to be ideal for city driving. Ranges are expected to be between 330 and 500 km (WLTP) depending on battery size and model.
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo is a zero emissions vehicle. Now here's a thing - the 48 kWh battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 15 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charging system. It can also be charged from a conventional household socket or a range of compatible charging stations and wallboxes. The future production model will have inductive - contactless - charging. The concept has also been produced with a solar module on the roof that can generate enough energy to extend the vehicle's range by up to 15km per day. It really is next generation driving.
The middle front passenger seat can fold down to reveal an integrated laptop workspace; and in fully autonomous pilot mode the instrument panel folds away and the driver's seat rotates to allow the driver to work on the move!
Steering is via a multi-function touchpad. Rear view vision is via cameras and screens, and infotainment and climate control are operated from a portable, integrated tablet.
Intelligent storage comes in partnership with Sortimo. The system can link with your company order management system so you can check stock on the move. Anything removed from the shelves is automatically registered, working times recorded and invoices issued.
