Volkswagen has revealed the new ID. Buzz GTX (250KW/340 PS), coming to the UK later this year in 2024.
It's the most powerful model in the ID. Buzz line-up. The ID. Buzz GTX is characterised by new exterior styling elements including a black air intake grille in honeycomb design, GTX badging and a new exclusive paint finish in Cherry red.
The standard wheelbase will have a 79kWh battery, the long wheelbase will be equipped with a 86 kWh battery. With maximum trailer weight of up to 1,800kg and all-wheel drive, the ID. Buzz GTX is ideal as an electric towing vehicle for bikes, boats or horse trailers. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles gave the new ID. Buzz GTX its world premiere in March, zooming ahead with an output of 250 kW (340 PS). With 100 kW more power than the current ID. Buzz or ID. Buzz Cargo, it’s the most powerful series-production 'Veedub bus' of all time.
The new vehicle was hailed by Lars Krause, the brand’s board member responsible for Sales and Marketing, as “the most powerful Campervan of all time, with two wheelbases and two battery sizes, available as a five, six or seven-seater, plus the standard all-wheel drive – for optimum pulling power and traction in every driving situation. It should really be called the ID. Buzz GTXXL! This means 2024 is getting off to a really good start.”
At maximum charging capacity, both batteries charge from 10 to 80 per cent again in approximately 26 minutes. Both GTX models come with 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds (forecast).
The ID. Buzz GTX will come equipped with the next generation of infotainment systems (as standard) with an even bigger touchscreen (now 12.9 inches in size from the 10 and 12 inch display available). The new IDA voice assistant is operated with natural voice commands. It not only allows control of numerous vehicle functions, but also provides answers to general knowledge questions using the online connection to databases such as Wikipedia. The innovative IDA voice assistant additionally features ChatGPT integration (AI/artificial intelligence).
In addition, the ID. Buzz’s long wheelbase versions will offer the panoramic sunroof with smart glass – a multi-layered smart glass with integrated liquid crystal film which can be electronically switched to transparent or opaque. The largest panoramic sunroof ever used in a Volkswagen vehicle turns the ID. Buzz into a Samba bus for a new era.
