The new look Transporter T6.1 has been enhanced and re-designed. You can still tell it's a Transporter, but under the bonnet and inside the cab it has been transformed with new technology. Driver safety and assistance systems include the latest features and infotainment has also been modernised.
The T6.1 switches from hydraulic to electro-mechanical power steering. This move allows the introduction of new driver assistance systems such as lane assist, park assist, crosswind assist, adaptive cruise control, city emergency braking, side protection, rear traffic alert (protection when reversing out of a parking space) and trailer assist (aids manoeuvring a trailer).
Great news for drivers who are constantly having to park and unload.
Transporter T6.1 has been enhanced by a redesigned cab which has a 230-volt electric socket by the driver's seat and a lockable compartment under the passenger double bench seat. This means when loading long items of cargo, they can now be pushed under the double bench. This increases the maximum length for cargo from 2,450mm to 2,800mm for the short wheelbase van and from 2,900mm to 3,300mm for the long wheelbase. The T6.1 also has a separate cargo space locking system as standard (Panel Van and Kombi with bulkhead). This allows the cargo compartment to be locked up separately from the cab.
Great news for those awkward sized loads and valuable cargo.
Transporter T6.1 gets electric windows, central locking, electrically adjustable heated wing mirrors, new H7 headlights, energy-efficient interior LED lights and the Composition Audio radio system with Bluetooth hands-free function as standard. A digital cockpit allows information to be easily accessible and clearly displayed. 'We Connect' allows the driver to access data and assistance at the touch of a screen.
Great news when you're on the road for long periods of time in all weathers.
The Transporter T6.1 is being launched with efficient 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines that deliver 90PS, 110PS, 150PS or 199PS and all fulfil the Euro-6d-TEMP emissions standard. The 150 and 199 PS versions will be available with 4MOTION all-wheel drive as an option. Through a partnership with ABT, the Transporter T6.1 will also be offered as a zero-emission vehicle (112PS) with a payload of almost 1.2 tonnes. Battery capacities of up to 77.6 kWh enable driving ranges of more than 240 miles when tested on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) – making the electric versions ideal for commercial use in the urban world.
Great news for keeping emissions low and transport costs down.
