The e-Golf has cemented its legacy in Volkswagen’s electric vehicle line-up as the 100,000th car was delivered in Dresden last month.
The anniversary vehicle, painted in “pure white,” was handed over to Maik Jaehde from Landolfshausen near Hanover, Germany. He was given an exclusive tour of the production facility too.
The all-electric golf was launched in 2014 as Volkswagen’s second electric vehicle after the e-up!, which launched in 2013.
It has become one of the most successful electric vehicles to launch in Europe and has significant status elsewhere, such as in North America.
The Head of Sales and Marketing in Germany, said: “The e-Golf has already been our ambassador for e-mobility for more than five years."
“Today’s delivery milestone of 100,000 vehicles is confirmation of the e-Golf’s success in fulfilling its mission. It therefore plays an important role in the mobility turnaround for many customers and paves the way for the new ID.3.”
Around 27,900 e-Golf were delivered to customers worldwide from January to October 2019, with full-year deliveries in 2018 totalling 24,800.
