As Top Gear announces, "the volts are in"!! Yes, the ID. Buzz has been crowned electric car of the year at the prestigious Top Gear Electric Awards 2022.
Judges praised the ID. Buzz for its iconic style, which pays homage to the original Volkswagen design, as well as its high-quality and responsive driving capabilities.
The ID. Buzz was said to be ideal for those with active lifestyles thanks to its spacious interior, especially the boot which has double the capacity of a standard SUV.
Ollie Marriage, Head of Car Testing at Top Gear, said: “Everyone we met loved that Volkswagen has rediscovered its mojo, and found the Buzz breezy, fresh and invigorating. Isn’t it great that Volkswagen has finally reinvented the original? It’s beguilingly simple and entirely uplifting – and that’s why it is our electric car of the year.”
The ID. Buzz is Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ first all-electric vehicle. Built on the modular electric drive kit (MEB) platform, it is made from the ground up with electrification in mind. It will be available at launch as a five-seat passenger vehicle and in van form as the ID. Buzz Cargo.
Sustainability is a core part the ID. Buzz, which uses recycled synthetic materials, has a leather-free interior and is manufactured with sustainable components.
Volkswagen is on an important electrification journey, and the long-awaited ID. Buzz continues this exciting experience.
