ŠKODA will support the Tour de France as the official main and vehicle partner for the 19th time this year.
The 109th running of the cycling classic starts this Friday 1st July, 2022, with the Grand Départ in Copenhagen, Denmark - the northernmost starting point in the history of the race. The 21 stages, including six mountain stretches, will go through four countries over a distance of 3,300 kilometres. The riders will finish on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris on Sunday 24th July.
There will be 250 ŠKODA vehicles for the organisers and race management, and more for support and service roles. The fleet includes the all-electric ŠKODA ENYAQ iV that Tour Director, Christian Prudhomme, will use as a command vehicle on 16 of the 21 stages, plus OCTAVIA models and the ŠKODA SUPERB iV with plug-in hybrid drive.
This is the third time the ENYAQ iV has served as the Tour Director’s mobile command centre. On some stages, the SUPERB iV with plug-in hybrid drivetrain will be the command vehicle.
A great outing for the ŠKODA range, which has been linked to cycling ever since brand ambassador Sir Bradley Wiggins came on board in 2017.
This will be the 12th time ŠKODA has designed the crystal trophy for the winner. The brand has also sponsored the green jersey since 2015.
Good luck to all the cyclists taking part in this exciting event!
The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV has won both What Car? Car Of The Year Awards 2022 - Best Electric SUV For Value and Auto Trader New Car Awards 2022 - Best Value Electric Car.
