JCB Group scores hat trick as three dealerships are named ‘Best To Work For’

Three dealerships owned by one of Kent and Sussex’s largest motor groups, have been recently been rewarded with not one, but three top motor industry accolades.

The JCB Group is proud to announce that Eurovans Van Centre, Pevensey, JCB KIA, Rainham and JCB Volkswagen Medway, were revealed as featuring in the top 15 UK dealerships at Automotive Management Live 2019.

It has been a significant year for family owned JCB Group; celebrating 20 years of business, further expansion of its customer offering with the opening of three new dealerships and investing in significant refurbishments across the group.

'Like The Oscars For HR!'

Widely viewed as the industry’s Oscars, the Automotive Management awards celebrate all that is best in modern motor retailing.

Group HR Manager, Anna-Lisa DeVoil, said: “As a diverse business with some 500 staff across 20 sites, split across three counties, Employee Engagement is extremely high on our agenda, particularly as we have grown so significantly in recent years. One of our solutions to help increase our employee engagement was to fully adopt and embrace a ‘Listen and Act Culture’, carrying out employee engagement surveys and making it our top priority to act on the feedback from those surveys. We’re very proud that many of our engagement initiatives have been introduced as a direct result of our employees’ feedback. In addition, we have designed and introduced (with the help of our employees) an interactive internal social media-style platform, or ‘Smart Hub’ which played a critical part in us refocusing our Internal Communications Strategy, plus provided a platform to launch our brand new reward and benefits scheme to our employees.

“By adopting this approach and introducing our internal Smart Hub, we found we could consistently share our messages with everyone, turning our vision of transparent, inclusive communication culture into a reality. We’re really proud of everything we’ve achieved with our employees over the last couple of years, so for three of our dealerships to feature in the top 15 to work for in the UK, is fantastic news.”

Managing Director Jonathan Bischoff said: “Naturally, I’m delighted at this news. It’s a real achievement to be considered among other leading national motor groups and testament to our focus on the development of our staff and fostering a culture in which people feel valued.

Engaging The Workforce

“Since embracing a ‘Listen and Act Culture’ the Group has won multiple group and individual national customer care, quality of service and business leadership accolades from a host of different peers. Though it’s difficult to prove a hard link, they are no doubt connected to our commitment of engaging our workforce, making them happier, and subsequently boosting productivity and business performance.”

Firms from across the United Kingdom entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best UK Dealerships to Work For.

The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated firm's workplace policies, systems, philosophies, practises, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation.

The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation.

The combined scores determined the top firms and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and also analysed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.

"Congratulations to all the AM Best UK Dealerships To Work For. Their great leadership, benefits and support for their workforce is commendable. Our industry is going through a tough period, and keeping staff happy and motivated to do their best work is all the more vital," said AM editor Tim Rose.
