As one of Kent and Sussex’s largest motor groups, we have been shortlisted for 'Employer of the Year' at the prestigious Motor Trader Industry Awards 2019.
It has been a significant year for our family owned JCB Group; celebrating 20 years of business; further expansion of our customer offering with the opening of three new dealerships; and investing in significant refurbishments across the group.
Widely viewed as the industry’s 'Oscars', the Motor Trader Industry Awards celebrate all that is best in modern motor retailing.
They pay tribute to companies and individuals who are able to demonstrate excellence in their field, exceptional customer service and true innovation, - individuals and companies that stand out from the crowd.
This is the third year in a row that the Group has been selected for a Motor Trader Industry Award, recognising the successful vision of Managing Director Jonathan Bischoff who founded, and still leads, the company.
Group HR Manager, Anna-Lisa DeVoil, said: “As a diverse business with some 500 staff across 20 sites, split across three counties, Employee Engagement is extremely high on our agenda, particularly as we have grown so significantly in recent years. One of our solutions to help increase our employee engagement was to fully adopt and embrace a ‘Listen and Act Culture’, carrying out employee engagement surveys and making it our top priority to act on the feedback from those surveys. We’re very proud that many of our engagement initiatives have been introduced as a direct result of our employees’ feedback. In addition, we have designed and introduced (with the help of our employees) an interactive internal social media-style platform, or ‘Smart Hub’ which played a critical part in us re-focusing our Internal Communications Strategy, plus provided a platform to launch our brand new reward and benefits scheme to our employees."
“By adopting this approach and introducing our internal Smart Hub, we found we could consistently share our messages with everyone, turning our vision of transparent, inclusive communication culture into a reality. Our live news blog ensures that important updates are accessible to all staff in real time, from all devices, from anywhere; everyone can see their colleagues’ achievements on the News Hub, or as part of encouraging peer-to-peer recognition, employees can also send each other e-Cards to say thank you or well done. In addition to all of this, we also have an interactive ‘Ideas Hub’, to continuously encourage our staff to be creative and innovative with their ideas to help drive the business forward and to make JCB an even better place to work."
“With these, plus many more initiatives, we were delighted to see a significant increase in our Employee Engagement. We’re really proud of everything we’ve achieved with our employees over the last couple of years, so to be shortlisted for Employer of the Year is fantastic news.”
Managing Director, Jonathan Bischoff, said: “Naturally, I’m delighted that the JCB Group has been shortlisted for the Employer of the Year. It’s a real achievement to be considered among other leading national motor groups and a testament to our focus on the development of our staff and fostering a culture in which people feel valued. Since embracing a ‘Listen and Act Culture’ the Group has won multiple group and individual national customer care, quality of service and business leadership accolades from a host of different peers. Though it’s difficult to prove a hard link, they are no doubt connected to our commitment of engaging our workforce, making them happier, and subsequently boosting productivity and business performance.”
The Employer of the Year winner for 2019 will be announced at the Motor Trader Awards dinner, the biggest night in the retail motor industry calendar, which is being held this year at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 10 July, 2019 before an audience of 1,100.
