Why? Two things are happening that might impact on your purchase decision:

Thing number one!

From April 2025, double cab pick-up trucks (like the Volkswagen Amarok) will be taxed as passenger cars rather than commercial vehicles. This change comes from the new HM Treasury Budget announced on 30 October 2024. In summary:

From 1 April 2025: For Corporation Tax purposes, double cab pick-ups with a payload of one or more tonne (including the Amarok) will be treated as cars rather than commercial vehicles
From 6 April 2025: For Income Tax purposes, these vehicles will also be treated as cars for capital allowances, benefits in kind, and certain business profit deductions

If you purchase a double cab pick-up before April 2025, the existing capital allowances treatment will apply. Employers who purchase, lease or order a double cab pick-up before 6 April 2025 will benefit from the transitional benefit-in-kind arrangements until the vehicle is sold, the lease ends, or until 5 April 2029, whichever comes first.

(Please note, there are no changes to VED or VAT as part of this update.)
