JCB News: Travel with Alexa

24/01/2019:

SEAT is the first automotive brand in Europe to integrate Amazon Alexa into its vehicles, and these services are now offered on Leon or Ateca models fitted with Navigation System High built from during the latter half of 2017, and any Leon or Ateca fitted with Navigation in model year 2019 (MY19).

Ask staff in our showrooms for details of the trims that Alexa is compatible with.

How and when will it work?

Alexa will be integrated into the SEAT Media Control app that works over WLAN connection – search for SEAT Media Control with Amazon Alexa in the Google Play Store to download the app.

The technology will let the driver use current Alexa functions - or ‘skills’ - in the car. You simply ask questions such as: ‘Alexa, will I need an umbrella today?’. Alexa is activated by double-pressing the mute button on the steering wheel, or the voice activation button (the user can decide this during the set-up process). Or a passenger can press the ‘Alexa’ logo on the SEAT Media Control with Amazon Alexa app.

What about other models and iOS?

Alexa requires a WLAN connection, which is currently only offered on Leon and Ateca with Navigation (Navigation System High only for MY18 vehicles).

An iOS version of the SEAT Media Control with Amazon Alexa app will be available, but official timings on this are to be confirmed. Vehicle compatibility will be the same.
