Kent is appealing for local runners to join their team.

Macmillan Cancer Support in Kent is appealing for local runners to join their team at the 2010 Paddock Wood Half Marathon on Sunday 11 April. The event is Kent,s largest road race and attracts over 2,000 runners.

Macmillan Cancer Support is the official charity of the year for the race in 2010. In 2009 over £6,300 was raised by Macmillan's running team which included customers from a pub, staff from John Lewis, a library assistant and radio freelancer.

Laura Thornton, Fundraising Manager, says:

" We're honoured to be the official charity for such a prestigious event. Taking part in the Paddock Wood Half Marathon is an ideal way to stick to those New Year's resolutions to keep fit. Whether you raise £10, £100 or £1000 every penny will help us reach more people living with cancer. Our sea of green wigs and giant foam hands will be cheering on all the runners as they pound the 13 miles. "
