The all-new version of the world's best-selling SUV is due to launch in Autumn 2018. More spacious and with a 7-seater option for the first time, the new CR-V now features a range of sophisticated technologies and superior quality throughout.
With slightly larger exterior proportions, a longer wheelbase and wider stance, a significantly larger interior is introduced compared to the current model. Boot space is wider and deeper with a longer loading bay. A new 2-position boot floor enables a flat surface for easy loading of large items, and a hands-free power tailgate helps with easier loading access (on top grades).
The 7-seater option has comfortable 3rd row leg room for longer journeys. Wide opening doors and integrated interior grab handles give easy access and the 2nd row seats slide forwards to create greater entry space. Boot capacity is bigger than ever with a 160mm increase in width and a maximum loading length up 250mm on the current model. This allows a 19.5" frame mountain bike to be carried with ease!
Advanced Compatibility Engineering uses a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly across the body structure. 'Honda Sensing' incorporates a suite of active safety and driver assistance technologies combining radar and camera information and high tech sensors to warn and assist the driver. New technology and engineering materials are lightweight but durable. Sodium cooled exhaust valves allow a leaner fuel mixture, reducing emissions and increasing fuel efficiency and power output in the new turbo engine.
The all-new CR-V is the most aerodynamically efficient vehicle in its class. With a sleek roofline, fin antenna, and under-engine and under-floor covers, a smooth flow of air is enabled above and below the CR-V, reducing drag and improving stability. Official CO2 emissions are 143g/km for the 6MT front wheel drive model, and 162g/km for CVT-equipped versions (fitted with all wheel drive as standard). Fuel economy on the NEDC combined cycle is 44.8 mpg for the 6MT FWD model and 39.8 mpg for the CVT AWD car. Acceleration is from 0-62 mph in 9.3 seconds, with a top speed of 131 mph.
Honda's latest all wheel drive technology - 'Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System', alongside increased ground clearance, gives the new CR-V genuine all-terrain capability.
Integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto means that Honda Connect now brings mobile phone functionality to the driving experience, delivering the interface through the CR-V's built in display. Voice commands using Apple's Siri and Android voice interfaces are possible. Four USB charging points in the cabin enable multiple connections for phones, tablets and other electronic devices. These are located 2 in the front and 2 for second row passengers.
The new CR-V uses Honda's 1.5 litre VTEC TURBO petrol engine (first introduced in the New Civic). It has been adapted to include an exclusively designed turbocharger for CR-V. An upgraded CVT automatic transmission now gives a smoother and more responsive ride.
CR-V has Active Noise Cancellation which uses 2 in-cabin microphones to monitor engine noise and can then create 'reverse phase' audio signals to cancel them out.
Energy saving, fast-warming heated seats are available, with heated seat cushions for front and rear occupants, and heated seat backs for the driver and front passenger - mmmm... cosy!
